Ode To Cookie Day

There's a yearning deep within my soul...to eat chocolate chip cookies
and to offer up this ode to a cookie day:

They call me from the freezer
They call incessantly
And even when I turn my back
Still they call to me

So off I pitter patter
With coffee cup in hand
To capture two more cookies
The finest in the land

The cookie, how it crunches!
The chocolate's oh so sweet!
Surely I know better
And yet I shall repeat

For they call me from the freezer
They call incessantly
And even thought the coffee's gone
Still they call to me

There's surely some solution
For this cookie hunting rut...
"Cover your ears, steel your will
And keep the freezer shut!"

But then I spy a bag of them
A scant arm's length away
And give in to the yearning
For a chocolatey cookie day

Perhaps you'll find a moral
Or pithy platitude
But me? I'll pat my tummy
All full of gratitude
